i was excited to read this because the theme was promising but dear god i struggled with the style massively. this was insufferable to read and i feel a little bad about the amount of skimming i had to do. genuinely could barely get through it. not one of the styles i enjoy, unfortunately. good atmosphere though and i enjoy the topics this covers.

I was excited about this book conceptually, but the language was so dense and exhausting! I get setting a scene/mood/time period but this was a lot. Maybe I’ll revisit but it just didn’t seem worth slogging through.
