I really really loved this book; it's super dark, and the illustration is so simple that it's the emotions and betrayal and starkness that really hit me. Super super amazing, dang Jason. Stellar stories. I also have been meaning to read more short stories, and I couldn't deal with how well plotted these were; they didn't start at the beginning or end at the end, but just took a snapshot of the middle of six different stories and I duuuuuug it so much.

Some really cool storytelling make up for somewhat lackluster stories, but this is still Jason so I don't think I could give it less than four stars. And really, a mash-up of The Brain That Wouldn't Die and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? What, I'm not supposed to love that?

Probably my least favourite Jason so far, but still good compared to other comics I read. This feels more angry and less sad than his other works which are more moving, as quarrels and betrayals are the main character interactions in all of the stories here, usually between male and female animals (most seen in A Cat From Heaven). So Long, Mary Anne is the only story which holds to his usual level of execution, mainly because of build-up and the ending. I think I even prefer Almost Silent to this even though I prefer long dialogue in comics, the self-titled comic Athos In America is the definitively the worst thing I have seen by Jason.

Fanatics only, otherwise see my other Jason reviews for pointers.

Jason fans who think he is at his strongest in wordless panels will be sorely disappointed; there is much more dialogue in this collection compared to his other works. The comic timing and overall delivery felt off. I cherish some of his other graphic novels, but I nearly put this book down without finishing it.

This was my first time reading Jason and I can't really make up my mind just yet. The book contains 4 stories of which I found 3 very confusing and weird and 1 absolutely brilliant (Tom Waits On The Moon). The stories were very dark and depressing, so I don't feel like going straight to the next Jason book right now.

Rating: 3 stars

A collection of short stories of love, sex, murder, psychopathy and other fun stuff featuring anthropomorphic characters. Not bad but I liked only 2 stories, especially the last one.

I picked up the book only because of the title. Had zero expectations. Got something very different but since last story is a prequel to another book - I plan to pick it up.

Be aware that this is intended for mature audience.

It was okay, and I liked the art. It's the first book I've read by this author and I wasn't sure what to expect. There were two stories that I really enjoyed, and then a few others that were a bit lackluster for me. I might give his other works a go, but I'm in the middle with this one.
