The book was good but sometimes moved too slow. I found some of the story unrealistic, which lowered my rating as I was expecting a hyper realistic dystopian. Winston’s development throughout the book from a timid sheep of the political system to a fearless maverick and then back to a timid sheep was an interesting character arc but I can not say the same about Julia. I found her character confusing and annoying, especially when it came to her lack of interest in Goldstein’s manifesto. Overall, the book satisfied my want for a political dystopia and was generally a fun read, however, it had some gaps in world building and character development hence the star rating.
