This was phenomenal and definitely went in a different direction than I thought it did. I assumed this was going to be a romance book (which is not my genre whatsoever), but I was pleasantly surprised. I have many thoughts, but will keep this review short and to the point.

Beautiful complexity in the characters, plot, and intermingling of both. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was surprised with the turn it took. The part regarding
Monique’s father being killed by Cameron
was definitely something I had no planned to read at any point and thought that it was an appropriate way to bring a shock factor. With how the ending went with
Evelyn ending her life, it felt that this book was almost somewhat of a suicide note which I found chilling. Her sharing her story has come with a price.

As I mentioned, this book had much complexity without losing sight of the main story line and character development.
The love of Evelyn and Celia ran in the background while these heterosexual facing relationships were occurring
was fascinating in the sense of how strong love can be despite all the challenges ahead. Destiny will find its way and I’m glad this relationship had its time to flourish.

With the whole part of fame and fake scenarios, it got me thinking about this reality and the idea of relationships being used as a catalyst for fame and face. I know it’s been a thing forever but it’s hard for me to wrap my head around sometimes. This brought up some food for thought regarding this idea as I kept reading.

The reason I docked .25 stars is because Monique’s character lacked depth and growth. She development felt like it went no where and her story line was so plain it felt like it was unimportant. I wished more was explained about her and given more time to explore her story. Regardless, I still would absolutely recommend to anyone.

A very fun read, I couldn't put it down. I liked the ending and the twist too.
