I loved all the puzzles and family mystery, plus the touch of magic, in this book I devoured in a single day! Plus, Elizabeth and Freddy and great main characters and I cannot wait to solve more puzzles with them in the next book.

This is my second read of this book and I found it just as delightful and well-paced. We are reading it for my book club at the library.
I confess that I picked up this book at the library for the sole sake of its charming, cutout dust jacket. I definitely enjoyed the book. It reminded me quite a bit of Greenglass House. There were echoes of Harry Potter in Elizabeth's story. I also had no idea it was the first of a series, but there were no cliffhangers at the end, just hints of further plot developments.

Petite histoire hivernale très sympathique. Malgré mon manque d'enthousiasme au début du livre (j'ai arrêté de le lire, puis j'ai décidé de lui laisser une seconde chance), je me suis finalement laissée emportée par les aventures des deux jeunes pensionnaires de l'hôtel Winterhouse. Les illustrations tout au long du roman sont très chouettes. Je lirai la suite avec plaisir.
