This is such a sweet romance novel with just a hint of spice (🌶).  I love the way the author brought the worlds of teaching and publishing together in what is essentially a love letter to literature.

Mac is a teacher at a high school in the Chicago suburbs, and Daniel is a published author who comes to Mac's neck of the woods to do a case study on teachers for his next novel. Mac has always kept a strict boundary between her professional life and her personal life, but Daniel seems to have this pull on her she hasn't felt before. And, for the first time ever, she's considering crossing her boundary.

The Write Place is so much more than just a romance novel. It touches on grief, toxic relationships, mental health, and showcases a beautiful female friendship. Whether you're familiar with the world of education or not, you'll find something to relate to and love about this novel.

ā€œThat’s the beauty of literature. It makes us feel. Or maybe a better description is that it allows us to feel in a safe space.ā€

ā€œDid you know, that as books decompose, the paper releases a chemical compound similar to vanilla, and that’s why old books smell so good?ā€

I was not familiar with Allie Samberts until a couple local book friends started sharing their reviews of her first two novels, The Write Place and The Write Time. With their rave reviews, and the fun wordplay in the titles, I asked my library to order both books.

I absolutely loved Mac and Daniel’s story! Let’s face it, we’ve all had some not so great teachers in our lives, but Mac is the memorable kind, the kind that makes a difference. I loved Mac’s love for books, how she shared that love with her students and how she was able to demonstrate to Daniel the feelings his own books evoke. There were times I felt the slow-burn was a little too slow, then the ending rushed, but I loved it.  I can’t wait to read The Write Time and then The Write Choice, when it’s released in January.

Oh! I almost forgot to take a moment for the best friend anyone could ever ask for, Jenny.  The way she shows up for Mac, again and again, was next level. I can’t wait for her story. I hope Mac is as great a friend as Jenny is.

This is probably one of my favorite ā€œworkplaceā€ romances I have ever read. The author is a teacher and everything is so realistic. And the found family aspect of this novel is beautiful to read.
