Looking for a contemporary romance that features real characters with real emotions in real situations with real jobs that keep you engaged with a fun and cute plot? It’s this one! Mackenzie is a content, single high school English teacher until her days are upturned by the presence of Daniel, a best-selling author shadowing her profession for his next book during a severe case of writer’s block. Their push/pull chemistry is full of witty banter and spark, their road to romance not without bumps and wrong turns but does have steam and true consideration of each other’s feelings and actions.
The single female narrator, Megan Carver, does a fantastic job with both points-of-view, capturing the essence of each character. I appreciated her expressiveness and engagement to her narration.

BRBN Book Tour and Readalong.
The simplicity of everything in this book left a positive impression on me. Although some may hold a different view, I found it to be a pleasurable and concise read, despite it's predictability.
As anticipated, this is an endearing, comfortable, and romantic narrative that includes humorous scenes and mild sensual instances. This book is aimed at anyone who enjoys this genre, but it is especially relevant to those who appreciate storylines that take place in the Creative Writing industry.
The writing style of Samberts is easily comprehensible, and the character of Daniel was crafted with all the qualities a lead character should possess. I am intrigued to know if Samberts was influenced by someone in particular during his creation, considering his absolute charm, and I conclude a Daniel-like figure is imperative in everyone's life.
I found this to be a great read, perfect for cozying up with and indulging in a brief escape.

This book was one of my faves this month! Thank you to Allie for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a review!
It was a slow burn, which I tend to not like, but I was here for every second of Daniel and Macs relationship!
I would have loved to have a teacher like Mac in high school! She was supportive, helpful and just genuinely cared for her students.
Daniel was charismatic, vulnerable and a love able MC! I mean absolutely swoon worthy!
A funny romcom that was easy to read and I couldn’t put down! I can’t wait for book 2!!

Crystal recommends The Write Place by Allie Samberts. This book is book one in the Leade Park series.
My Expectations
I picked up this book because the author was a high school teacher and because she said female friendship played an important role in this series. I knew the main character was a teacher and I was hopeful for a somewhat accurate portrayal of the profession.
What I Loved
Everything.
Mac was a high school teacher through and through. She cared about her students, went out of her way to help them learn in a meaningful way, and she prioritized and protected her quiet downtime. Her personal struggle was a deep one that reasonably affected many aspects of her life and her job, as teaching is known to do, had provided an adequate distraction for quite some time. Daniel penetrated that teaching world and it was the beginning of her letting someone, other than Jenny, in.
Daniel was a favorite from the moment he smiled and greeted Mac. I enjoyed the way he observed her world and understood, for the most part, what she needed. Daniel gave sexy geek in spades and my heart ached for him even without his POV.
Jenny was a fabulous friend and I enjoyed their friendship almost as much as the relationship aspect of the book. We all need a Jenny to keep us on our toes, but show up with wine and burgers when they are warranted.
My Final Thoughts
Allie did the profession of teacher so much justice and I felt seen. When Daniel mentions being exhausted just watching her I knew she was going to knock it out of the park without trying. While I was frustrated with Mac’s inability to give things a chance, I recognized that grief can do a number on someone and we all deal with grief in our own way and in our own time.
I thought Daniel was amazingly amazing, except for that whole not communicating something important thing. There were times I wanted to be inside his head to understand his reasoning more.
These two melted my heart and made me smile so big!

Omg my gosh! I loved this book!!!!!
First of all, I love Daniel. That is all you need to know.
But if you want to know more. Mac is so dang relatable (I formerly taught) and it was so fun to read about a teacher! She also used to run cross country (hi twin)! Her relationship was Jenni was so precious too! Teacher besties have to stick together!!!
I cannot wait to see their relationship as the series continues!!!
Nods to the Midwest? Yes please! Love those as well!
Highly recommend!!!
