Welcome to St. Hell is easily one of the best queer graphic novels I’ve read! The self awareness and the way Lewis’s story is told is absolutely fantastic! With this being non-fiction, the presence of important people within Lewis’s life was so well done and having Lewis be the narrator of his own story worked perfectly! The art is really creative and unique and you can tell a lot of love and passion went into this. For anyone who is Trans this is a must read, it is so informative and hopeful in the way it looks at growing up being Trans and I couldn’t recommend this one enough!

I was alerted to this book by some anti-trans group mad that scholastic is selling this book to high schoolers. It's written for high schoolers. It's a wonderful and raw story about the trials and tribulations of growing up trans. And while there is a sex scene and since it's a graphic novel it is visual, it is not there to be sexy, it fits in the story and is tame compared to other books I have seen on the shelves of libraries. Plus it's high school, kids are having sex. It's a very good book and every part is there for a reason and that reason is to inform and share the how it is to be trans.

Taking #ownvoices to the next level, Hancox gives voice to his current trans-masc self AND writes scenes where he talks to his pre-transition teenage self. Incredible.
