A lighthearted spin on a memoir, though what I enjoyed most is the unexpected wave of nostalgia from the fact I grew up in St Helens at the same time as Lewis. Though, we called it Smellins, not St Hell.

I could recognize so many of the places: Such as every alternative kid going to Overload (the under 18s rock night at the Citadel) to get drunk, or knowing which exact street was being referenced.  I wonder if I ever crossed paths with him without knowing?

I really adored this! A great graphic novel about the experience of a transgender man in the UK, during a time where trans issues weren't as well-known and widely discussed (although in many circles, of course, trans people have always existed!) as it is today, as well as all the awkward and awful moments you experience growing up and going through your teen years. I think this would be a brilliant book to give any teenager, even if they aren't going through the exact same issues, and there were many moments where I felt extremely emotional! I know there's going to be a sequel coming out next year and I genuinely cannot wait to get my hands on it! The author's humour shines through all the way, and the narrator's voice is very fun to follow!

“And if it ain’t reet, it ain’t the end.” Happy to have spent time here in Lewis’ story. Thinking of all the kids one could’ve used this one.

Very good and relatable comic about growing up transmasc / a trans man and all the kinds of hell and struggles that brings with it.
Love the positive and encouraging ending and love also the list of resources for LGBTQ+ people at the very end.
