It is a well-written book that follows characters who all are in the morally grey zone.
The concept of the story and the characters keep the readers busy and the plottwists create suspense.
I liked that the book has a dark tone and does not sugarcoat anything.
The closer I got to the end of the book the plot twists and the story kept on going and I was trapped in a state of suspense and shock. The book makes you realize you can’t trust anyone because everyone is capable of betraying each other.

All in all, I can not wait for the next book, which hopefully explores the characters and the story even more.

I liked that the story itself was very brutal and that it was expanded with the help of fairy tales and family stories.

I was intrigued because this book seemed a lot like the Hunger Games but with magic, and that's what it was, it just felt..... incomplete. Only 4 of the 7 "champions" of the tournament have chapters from their pov's and it felt disgruntled because of that, we were able to gather backstory on those 4, but every other character fell flat in my opinion, it was still a fun read, and I will be reading the second book, but I was so saddened with some of the writing decisions featured in this book.

Great book, great idea. Sort of magical hunger games.
The atmosphere was gloomy and dark which I really liked.
I also liked the fact that the world was similar but not at all at the same time. Magic is a part of the world but there is some technology such as cameras etc.
Also, the type of magic was original. I’m used to the “born-with” magic and not the “spell and curse” type of magic.
But then… it was slow. Everything happened at the end. I liked the characters but some seemed to be too stereotyped. One was the villain who didn’t want to be, one wanted to be a hero, one had to accept her fate against her will… All type of protagonist…
And, ofc, the dilemma that shouldn’t be a dilemma.
I mean, they could end the tournament yet some are capable of saying no to it even though everyone wants it to stop

I understand that there is some things to consider but not things more important then the fate of everyone.
The end felt rush. It was so long to finally end the book with nothing.
the tournament is still on and there are champions who will try to stop the champions who want to stop the tournament… wtf?

She could have written less in the first book to try to really end well and not be force to do a second book etc.
There is things I didn’t like but it is still a great book that I really appreciated.
