WTF!!! That's right I said WTF!!!!!! Wow this book will have you captivated from the very beginning. This writing duo has the ability to pull you in screw with your head and when you think you know what is about to happen they slap you in the face with one hell of a twist that will have your jaw hanging on the floor. It starts out fast paced and it doesn't slow down at all.
Jasper is the type of character you are going to hate to love. He is dark, delicious, and guaranteed to make all your twisted dreams true. I mean come on with his profession of course he would be dark and delicious. Georgie or Petal as you will learn to call her as well is as sassy and tenacious as they come. As unconventional as their relationship is they fit perfectly together.
I understand I am not giving a whole lot about the characters, but I feel anything I tell you will not do either of them justice. Their journey is not for the faint of heart. If you do not enjoy a dark and winding road filled with a stalker chasing down his prey then you need to move on. This is not your typical cat and mouse game. Now all I have to do is sit here and wait for the next book. I need to know just how their love affair plays out.

Hooooly sh... I mean.. when I first picked this book up after reading some reviews of it, I originally thought that I might not like it. Though the reviews sounded intriguing, there where some things that had me sceptical...
But wow.. I just finished it, and I cant wait until the next book, I'm picking it up as we speak. Damn. Damn damn.

Dark, Suspense, Mafia Romance... my favorite genres all in one!
What a plot! I had a right guess, and a never would have guessed! My recommendation to you, find a block of time: you won't want to put this down.
My heart constricted so many times! Despite who he is, I am in love with the main character, Jasper! And Georgie, love her too. Kent and Starling do a great job building the character backgrounds, showing how broken these two are.
I cannot wait to see what happens next. HEA or no. You know what I'm rooting for!!!

2.5 stars. Had Jasper been 15% more affectionate and less cruel towards Georgina this book would've without a doubt rated five stars. The sex was hot enough, which is why I'm not giving it one star, but that the dynamic they had in bed bled over into their every interaction... It was too dark for me. Like, sure, they both get off on a little something extra in the bedroom, that's one thing, but when the guy treats her like shit without it being in an actual mutually enjoyable sexual situation? That's just abuse.
I loved Jasper in the first half of the book because it seemed like his potentially budding feelings for her would turn him more human and maybe he'd become one of those anti-heroes who's an asshole to everyone except the woman he loves, but by the end of the book I'd yet to see one genuinely loving gesture from him. I literally cannot tell you whether he feels anything positive at all for her. Maybe some would say I should've known this book wasn't for me when I read the words "dark romance" but that label is so broad I gotta take a chance now and again.

This book was very repetitive just at that case. "leave me", "no, come back" constantly. Hero was trash and heroine was stupid. Big yawn for the plot twist.

joe goldberg please step aside for jasper cain as the creepy stalker of the year. in parts, this felt like a smutty version of you. it was alright but nothing mindblowing, there were some mafia elements to the story but they were not explored much (hoping for it to be more prominent in the last book of the duet). the smutty scenes tho were wack with a lot of dubious consent and consensual non-con (specifically rape play), so be wary of that going into this one.
I had mixed feelings about the book like i didnt hate it it was ehh okayish.

But other twist and mysteries are coming out.. now he has more enemies and needs more answers.. and they share a past..and we end with a cliffhanger.
Im still sorta intrested in book 2 i just wanna see how it ends. I really didn't enjoy him having a shock collar and shocking her.. like i get the other fantasies.. but that was just kinda wrong.. in my head.. like couldn't he just handcuff her?
