This isn't the book for be but it is a book for someone else. The jokes were overdone and trope-y and the whole book reads as very story-light; you're never committed to one idea or adventure for very long so any dialogue has to be quick and surface level. The characters are one dimensional and restate their single motivation over and over that it didn't feel exciting to push through chapters given you could predict the exact course it was going to follow.

That being said, it was nice to switch off and not have to focus on grand political scheming, complicated world building or any form of relationship building. The author knows that these are just short, dumb (Dhum) adventures and it felt nice to not worry about what would come next (in the nicest way possible). It does have the essence of chaotic table top sessions but it lacks a little bit of genuine heart.

I like reading from a more indie author but I think this is where I'll stop reading. I think my hopes for what this *might* read like overtook what it actually was which isn't the fault of the author. I'm happy that there's more stories to come but I'll leave those for other readers who might appreciate them more than me
