I like these books, but I get bogged down in the seemingly (to me) endless fight sequences. As a whole, I like the story, but I'm not sure I'll read any more. Maybe.

This was a very good book, solid conclusion to the Wally King storyline and a bit more revealed about the Twenty Palaces society - I hope this serious continues.

I can't put my finger on why I don't like book 2 and 3 as much as I did book 1.
I only read this one because I knew it was the last one and wanted to "finish" the series.

Part Harry Dresden, part Sandman Slim, Harry Connolly has created an excellent character in Ray Lilley. I'm really quite bummed that Connolly and his publishers just couldn't get sufficient sales to allow the series to continue past this book. It really is a damn shame; this is one of the best urban fantasies I've read in a long time.

Again pretty much what you'd expect but more progress in terms of knowing the character and the inner workings of the twenty palaces society, so that was nice. I enjoyed leaning more about Annelise, and about the original spell books.

Great -- Ray Lilly faces up to a lot of his decisions, deals with situations with no good answers, and does it all through fast action and smart thinking. A book for smart people.

Damn good. I can't give it a five because the villains were underdeveloped and somewhat stock one notes, but the rest of the book was great fun.
