Written from the left, but challenges the 'negative' bias that many people have on the left. It was an enjoyable read and really it is a call to the left to not seel the progress short or otherwise it may actually turn people against politics which will not benefit the left in the long run. As a member of the 'rational optimist' right like Matt Ridley I find many arguments in this book that show the world is not as bad as it seems. However it does find itself lionising the New Labour years a bit too much but overall a good book.
