I enjoyed the works of Ann Radcliffe, Mary Shelley and Horace Walpole better. Dacre's writing was too verbose and the plot turns seemed contrived. But, I'm glad I was introduced to her and the Oxford World Classics edition noted that many of the Romantic poets would have been very familiar with, and some were influenced by, her work.
