It was three stars until the end. I had a hard time relating to Dolly at times but still enjoyed the writing and stories. The Homecoming chapter and final chapter spoke to me.

3.5-4 stars. This was a really fun memoir and audiobook. Although she shared some difficult experiences, the book was overall lighthearted. It read like a woman confiding in her girlfriends or her sisterhood. Open, genuine, and funny.

this didn't speak to me as much as i thought it would, probably due to the fact that dolly and i couldn't be more different if we tried so the majority of her formative experiences are deeply unrelatable to me. i also found myself getting frustrated by some of her persistent blind-spots and tendencies to blame others for her own codependences and lack of maturity.
but despite that, at its best, this book made me reflect on the value and purpose of my relationships at this stage of my life and what it means to love people, both romantically and platonically. if dolly and i are on the same page about one thing, its that female friendship is the most fulfilling and enduring form of love you can experience and i feel lucky to experience so much of it.
at the very least, a reminder never to take sisterhood for granted <3
