I have no idea what kind of mob organization Grisham imagined, but it doesn't work like this. And the FBI is far too comfortable with having to wait for a nobody like the mc to do their job. Irrealistic.

This book has a good plot but took way too long to get to the punchline. I found myself waiting and waiting for things to move along.

Well, nice ending the book is really good. I liked the style of Grisham.
The thing about this book, which I don’t know if I’ve read before (was mildly obsessed with the movie in high school) is that it is SUCH a hilarious artifact of the specific time in which it was written. A starting salary on Wall Street that’s not significantly higher than what I make now in education! Delta still having a hub in Cincinnati! ALL OF THE PRE-9/11 LAX SECURITY STANDARDS AND THE WAY NO ONE HAS ANY SECURITY CAMERAS ANYWHERE!! It’s not that I’m really nostalgic for the early 90s, but man this was a fun romp down memory lane.
