This book wasn’t terrible, it was just…sigh…how can I articulate this? I don’t necessarily like a hyper villain in my romances and a lot of authors fall into that category. But this author fell on the other end of the spectrum. I was kind of confused as to what Deacon’s beef really was. His mom was a little annoying, but didn’t seem awful. The conflict was just too subtle.
Also, gay for you is not my favorite trope. I’m a cis het woman, so what do I know, but it feels a bit unbelievable. Bi of course makes sense, but I am not attracted to men but I’m totally comfortable with your dick..? It may happen sometimes but I have trouble buying it.
Finally, WTF with burying those letters? It’s honestly a little disrespectful. That really bothered me.
The cover is super hot and maybe deacon could have looked like one of them, but we really didn’t get much in the way of descriptions, so I had trouble picturing either of them.

I don't have much to say except that the way these two got together was swoon-worthy. Also, I liked that a familial relationship that has been broken for years didn't get the Disney treatment. It doesn't magically mend itself by the end of the book. In fact, it doesn't get mended at all. It ends up at a stalemate and sometimes that's just how it's gotta be. My bitter heart is soothed.

This is so not my normal read but apparently I am a bigger sucker for a slow burn family drama than I thought. I wasn't aware of it from the beginning but the story in Wanting more actually overlaps with one situation in this book. Smartly done. Not really important to the story though, you can read this without having read Wanting more.
This book touched me deeply and I could not stop listening. So many feelings: grief, despair, longing, love, hope, anger, pain, shame, lust, rejection, appreciation, vulnerability, support and guilt.

I loved the MCs, Julian and Deacon. Their chemistry was almost palpable and the dual POV made for deep insights into complex characters. While Julian's and Deacon's grief was a beast, Deacon's struggle with his family was heartbreaking and without spoiling too much, I was thrilled about the ending that showed that not everything can be forgiven.
"I love you more than my past. I love you more than the obstacles the present is throwing our way because you are my future. And I am going to love you forever because you're my always."
And a shout out to Tim Page and Teddy Hamilton! Their narration lifts an already wonderful story to as close to perfection one can come.
A beautiful love story, well written and perfectly narrated, that will stay with me for a while and made it straight on my re-read list.
