I hate Persephone. She is such a brat. Hades is a dream. And all of the supporting characters are great. I want to love this series but I’m just getting through it. If it weren’t for Persephone, it’s would have a better rating than 3.5 stars…

There was way too much relationship turmoil. I felt anxious in a dress unenjoyable way the whole time.

Persephone's relationship with Hades has gone public and the resulting media storm disrupts her normal life and threatens to expose her as the Goddess of Spring. Hades, God of the Dead, is burdened by a hellish past that everyone's eager to expose in an effort to warn Persephone away. Things only get worse when a horrible tragedy leaves Persephone's heart in ruin and Hades refusing to help. Desperate, she takes matters into her own hands, striking bargains with severe consequences. Faced with a side of Hades she never knew and crushing loss, Persephone wonders if she can truly become Hades' queen.

So after enjoying most of the first book, I was interested to see how things would play out in this second one. Honestly, it felt like more of the same. The same fight between Hades and Persephone and the same making up and making out. Maybe I blame Lore Olympus - another Hades and Persephone modern retelling. The relationship between them in Lore is fantastically portrayed and in this book not so much - it’s like the opposite, an unhealthy relationship. My dislike of Persephone’s decision making in the first book increased so much more in this book. I just didn’t understand why she kept pushing certain things so much because you could clearly see where things were about to go wrong, but she did it anyway! I was interested to see how the series unfolded but I’ve decided to give it a break for the time being.
