Coming on the tail end of the Fox film adaptation, this volume adapts about a half years worth of strips (Val and Vikings go to North America, and Prince Arn arrives) into a narrative novel. I haven't read this story line in it's original form, but I'm guessing someone pulled the caption text from the strip and fashioned it into the form seen here. Not all the Art is present, but plenty is rendered textless in various patterns surrounding the text as illustrations. Considering Foster's illustration-like design for the comic, this works fine---though one does miss the color especially when colors are mentioned.
