The title of this book and the beautiful cover had me expecting a very different read to the direction the narrative went in. I think this made the story more impactful. The characters are so well written and I felt the rage and despair of the protagonists as I experienced the events of the narrative alongside them. A well-paced, wonderful read that dives into the complex nature of racism and colonialism in Australia from the perspective of a vibrant cast of characters, many of whom are members of the Sri Lankan migrant community.
