This is one of those books that you read and you think I can't believe this book isn't popular but at the same time, it feels just that much sweeter that you can enjoy it in the quiet now because you know one day it will get an adaptation and it will be trending everywhere and you will have this quite memory of loving it alone and you will get to watch the world fall in love with the characters and the world as you watch from the sidelines, your love being revived along with it. that's how this book felt. for some unknown reason, it felt so deeply nostalgic and comforting and exciting in the best ways possible. the world unfurls and wraps around you like a warm hug, pulling you in and under like a gentle wave, till you are so deeply enraptured by the story you can scarcely put it down. the characters are so wonderful and so unique and complex and the fact that we get one more book to delve even deeper into all of this is beyond gratifying. if you want something exciting and nostalgic at the same time, something to make you feel so at home in this new world, I highly recommend this book. and if you love the found family trope? THIS IS IT FOR YOU. basically, if you liked six of crows read this book. I shall leave it at that.

Really really liked this. Like really really. I didn’t even care about the insta-love. I’ve never read a pirate book before and after this I think I’ve been missing out.

Better than I expected. A pirate adventure story. And despite being in first person .. I enjoyed it.
