This was an action-backed continuation to Elena and Raphael’s love story in which interest in Elena’s new existence puts her in danger from all corners. I didn’t love this as much as I did the first book perhaps because it was more action-packed than character-based. I think there was still a good amount of romance but it was very much action around a specific event- everything felt very much like it was leading up to Lijuan’s gathering and so it for that reason at times felt a bit slow and slightly less compelling than book 1, even though it was still super interesting and did keep my attention. This series is fire. I don’t know what’s coming next with the Lijuan angle if anything- that resolution came so fast that I can’t believe it is over. Super excited to read the next book and glad that I’m only just starting the series so I can have a good binge catching up.

"Archangel's Kiss" is a direct sequel to the first book in the Guild Hunter's series, "Angels' Blood". I think I liked this as much, if not more than Angels' Blood. I really enjoyed the banter between Elena and Raphael and the bits we get about Elena becoming an angel and learning how to do angelic things, like fly, end up being really interesting.
Overall it was a good book, it ends on a light cliffhanger but I don't mind because the rest of the series has already been released.
A few of the scenes were a bit too gruesome for me, which is why I'm knocking half of a star off.
I give this book a 4.5 out of 5
