I didn't mean to read this book in one day but it nearly happened. I'd read only about twenty pages the other day and here I go and finish the rest of it within a twelve hour span today (though real time read was about three hours total). It was cute, it was fun, lighthearted and even though I didn't feel particularly drawn into the story in the beginning, it was worth sticking through it.
I didn't really care about our character's occupations but the wedding preparations were fun and I liked the two main characters. It mostly gets the 3.5 rating simply because while I found it perfectly entertaining, it's not all that memorable or groundbreaking and the writing is good but that's about it. I did want something more lighthearted after the intensity of the hunger games vibes so this caribbean romance was a nice palette cleanser. It's a sweet story that makes you happy the way a fun 90s or 00s rom com makes you feel.

This started out really good. I liked the characters a lot and their back and forth was cute at first. But it got to a point where I was tired of them bickering and it got pretty boring after the halfway mark. There were some sweet moments and sometimes I really enjoyed Kieran’s inner monologue. But ultimately I was skimming towards the end.

Sweethand by N.G. Peltier is an enemies-to-lovers treat that takes place in Trinidad and Tobago. Cherisse is a successful baking company owner whose mother will not give her a break when it comes to dating. Kieran is a music producer who gets under Cherisse’s skin, and he has since they were young. The unlikely pair are forced to work together for Cherise’s sister and Kieran’s best friend’s wedding. Heavy on the spice as well as fun, this story leads to an unexpected romance baked to perfection.

"Love makes no sense sometimes, but you roll with it and it's the right for you person."
First off, I LOVE books about baking and food. I had high expectations for this since it was recommended by Gabby from @gabbyreads. She still didn't steer me wrong, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Cherisse, the main character, would drive me nuts sometimes on how rude and avoidant she could be to Keiran, although I know it was a coping mechanism for her to protect her heart. Ultimately, it was a cute rom-com novel and I did have fun reading it.

This is a sweet (pun totally intended!) and sexy enemies-to-lovers romance which finds the maid of honor and the best man forced to work together to help her sister and his best friend celebrate their upcoming nuptials. Cherisse and Kieran have excellent chemistry, and they have a interesting group of friends and family around them that add to the humor of the story. I especially the Cherisse's meddling match-making mother, and her BFF Remy who does her best to keep Cherisse in check. The conflict that interrupts that upsets their romantic bliss was silly and unnecessary - it definitely isn't a reason to put the relationship on ice. There was enough drama in the fact that they never thought they would be together and they each tried to keep their true feelings secret from each in order to not get too attached. But no matter, we know it all works out in the end.
Thanks to Libro.FM and the publisher for the gifted copy of the book. The narrator was excellent! Even thought this story is told from Cherisse's and Kieran's alternating perspectives there was a single narrator, which is my preference. She didn't go over the top with trying to affect different accents but still did a good job of giving each character a distinctive voice. I look forward to meeting the other couple(s) in this series.

4.5 First of all this cover!? Absolutely GORGEOUS!! It’s literally the only reason I added it to my tbr without knowing anything about it but wow i loved it!! Honestly the perfect sweet and light fun romance
We follow Charisse, a party chef that is planning her sisters wedding and she has to team up with her childhood nemesis, the best man Keiran. I loved the baking talk, rivals to lovers and their chemistry was so good! I also really liked the setting if Trinidad, I dont think I have read a book taking place there before and I wanted to eat all the food
