Enemies to lovers Trini romance set in the Caribbean and the MMC is bisexual, surely it can’t be bad 😑 Clearly I was wrong.
This has been on my shelf since 2021, I was drawn to the beautiful cover and the synopsis sounds so good but honestly thats the only good thing about this.
First things first, why are Cherise & Kieran enemies, it’s really never mentioned why they don’t like each other. This is why I don’t take enemies to lovers seriously outside of fantasy, if they’re not trying to kill each other, are they really enemies?🤨 Where is the banter between love interest? It felt almost nonexistent. There is more of a banter between the characters and their friends, then there is between Cherise & Kieran. Really do not get how they “fell” in love, their relationship was so dry and boring.
The plot just felt long and drawn out for no reason, I was essentially bored.
The spice scenes gave me the ick because it felt like our main characters had no chemistry whatsoever, it just made everything feel awkward.
Also why was Cherise so unnecessarily mean and not the fun mean 🙄 It was just giving bitchy 🤷🏾♀️
The only reason I even kept reading is because I had this for so long, if that wasn’t the case this for sure would’ve been a dnf.
Safe to say I’m extremely disappointed especially since this has been on shelf for 4 years. The only reason I even gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because I liked the Caribbean representation.
Safe to say I’m unhauling the physical book.

It’s your basic romance novel but I do love that the audiobook narrator was actually Trinidadian! Caribbean massive
Almost perfect
The chemistry is sooooooooo amazing, I loved reading about these two because even though they were fighting it they were so into each other. I just wanted to talk some sense into Cherry, like girl just give in. I love the inclusiveness of the main characters and the side characters, since how people define themselves sexually is such an unspoken conversation in the black community.
The only thing that killed me is the ending, it seemed like it was rushed. I expected some sort of resolution but it just seemed roughly patched together. I know that if we get to see some more of the side characters that we would get more of that
I definitely want to know more about Max and Remi. They seem like they would be really hot.
