reykjavik is a story following a reporter who begins investigating the disappearance of an icelandic girl 30 years ago. i read this book to fulfill the last storygraph genre challenge prompt that i had left to complete & likely wouldn’t have read it otherwise! i’m unsure if the translation was just lacking for me but it didn’t really feel like things were actually happening until the end of part 1 and the end of part 2. i was shocked by both of these revelations but i also feel like more could’ve *happened*. i also didn’t really get much personality out of the characters which was quite disappointing.
i didn’t dislike the book enough to dnf it, and the ending was fulfilling, but i wish more actually happened during the story itself. i give this 3/5 stars
this book also fulfilled my reading goal for the year with one day to spare!!

A teenager goes missing in 1956. We revisit the story over time as it captivates Iceland and haunts the lead investigator. In 1986 a young reporter picks up the story and starts to make progress...until something terrible happens. This is a good mystery with some icelandic history and a good twist or two.
