all the stories were good but I didn't love any of them.

I saw a blurb about the Nonrequired Reading books and found 2019 at my local library. I would like to pursue this annual publication.

Some interesting pieces. Some that missed the mark. Still a worthwhile series.

Another fine collection, showing a wide range of interest of the high school curators (a fact of this series that always makes it worth a look)

There's something precious and delicate about reading a collection of stories handpicked by a group of high school students from a basement in California. The stories spanning from a comic about butts to a heartwrenching story of foster care, might not always be the best or hold your interest. But the intent is captivating in and of itself.

A lovely collection, and a joy to read. Short-stories/essays aren't my go-to genre, so it feels refreshing and mind-expanding. Favorite story: The Brothers Aguays.

Some quality pieces in here but based on past editions, this one really lacks. Too many short fiction, in my opinion, and some of that didn’t bring the usual punch. Also next to no graphic novel excerpts.

I seek out this collection, year on year, because it often exposes me to writers and writing genre new to me.
