A beautiful story about citizens coming together to rescue dolphins trapped in an icy cove.

Based on a true story, this picture book takes a look at dolphins trapped by ice, and the community that gathered to free them. It is my first time reading anything from Roy and Slavia Miki, and I thought the writing worked really well for a story to read aloud to children. It is emotional, but the ending is happy, just like the ending of the real story. I have read a number of books illustrated by Julie Flett (she is the reason I picked this one up) and I love her illustrations here as much as ever.

I definitely recommend this one, especially as a book to read with children interested in caring for animals. I would be interested in reading more from the writers.

This one is just okay. I found the illustrations at first (especially the ones with the snow) to be distracting, but they got better as the book went on.

Read this to make a dolphin-themed storytime, but this book's not gonna work. Really like the illustration, though.

This one was beautifully illustrated! I can't say that enough. However, the story was not of interest to me or my daughter. Too didactic.

This is written from a child's point of view about the rescue of 3 dolphins trapped in an ice covered cove on the coast of Newfoundland by the community. The illustrations definitely help tell the story and show what happens.
