I heard of this magazine as I did a search for publications for short stories, and this is one that popped up. I don't know why I chose this issue first. The stories were okay my issue is personal...as I read the stories I started wondering if short stories are a good place for me or not. They seemed rushed and always left me wanting more.

The one thing that annoyed me the most is when I looked at their submissions page it said that any works over 7500 words would be automatically deleted and there's one story in this collection that is 13700 words (according to the word count at the beginning of the story). Leaves me wondering why this author could submit such a longer story. While it wasn't a bad story, it wasn't exceedingly great that it deserved to be longer than the submission guidelines. Of course, like I said, this is just a personal issue.

That's my whole issue with this magazine is while the stories were well written and technically good none of them really jumped out at me except for The first promise we break by Risa Wolf was pretty good as well. While I would have liked more building of the story It rises and Falls and Rises again had potential but fell kind of flat at the end. I don't know, maybe because of the word count into play here. Maybe I should re-read it again. But I have so much else to read backed up I don't really have time to re-read something.

I'll read a few more issues, maybe I'll find something I like in them. I bought a handful of them for my Kindle so I might as well read what I have but I don't know if I'll buy any more.
