I would say that it’s not the scariest that I’ve read (Gerald’s Game of the 10 King stories I read) but it’s definitely the one with the most dread. You know what’s going to happen and you can’t help but read on to see it happen. The characters feel so genuine as they always do with King’s novels. My kids are around the same age and I felt the truth behind their portrayal and dialogue. The kite scene specifically. So real. Then the next chapter is a total gut punch. Nearly to tears at that moment.

3.5 stars

Honestly better than IT, as far as the actual horror scenes went. And certainly less boring in the parts between. I think this is the last Steven King I'm ever going to read, though.
dark mysterious sad tense

Didn't love or hate the book. The book ended totally different then I imagined. 60% in the book I felt a little depressed in the story. Stephen King is really good at making me feel really badly for his characters. There were a lot of characters who have such horrible things happen to them. I expected more about the Pet Sematary it self in the book, but the story went more around it. Which wasn't especially a bad thing. Although the character was completely wrong in what he did it's understandable and even though we all knew it couldn't end well, it was really heart breaking. The end was really suprising and much better then in the movie. I wished there was another page left in the book about how his life continued cause I am left with some questions...I guess that is left for our own imagination ;)

The horror genre lends itself well to telling stories about grief. There is so much exploration that can happen into the darkness that can grow inside someone dealing with loss when you can summon monsters to personify it, after all the soil of a man’s heart is stonier
dark medium-paced

Felt like it moved along pretty well until the end then the details sort of dragged out (like the night he moved Gage). But overall a fun spooky season read and filled my Stephen King cup. It’d been a few years since I’d read anything by him.

As usual Stephen King tells a chilling tale. I saw the movie years ago and decided I wanted to read this book to see what is different. There are some differences, but overall the same thing happens to the cat, Gage, the old man, and his wife. I don't care how much I miss someone who passed, I do not believe we should have the ability to bring them back, especially when we are not sure what we are bringing back.

5/5 ⭐️!

I really wanted to read this King classic before the premiere of the new movie (I read few of his other books before, but I knew this story only cause I saw the 1989 movie)!
In this book King shows again, how amazingly he can increase tension, and how perfectly he can create spooky and dark atmosphere. All the characters are so precisely well-built, and the “fantasy element” feels so real too, You wouldn’t think for a second, that it’s just a myth.
He is showing perfectly the depths of the human soul, the hidden darkness of modern day’s society through horror/paranormal mistery...
Made me Google lot of things like the wendigo, his whole story in Maine, etc.
If You like to read spooky/creepy/dark books, I really recommend to read Pet Sematary!
And I’m so excited to see the new movie now, especially cause in this one Ellie will be hit by the Orinco truck...!
Soundtrack: Ramones/Pet Sematary - of course 🤓
