I would give it a 3.5 rating. I quite liked the writing style of Stephen King. The writing was consistent, but story got a little down or slow at the point when Jud's Wife passed away. I liked the story and creepiness of the writing.

I'm not very versed in the horror genre and this was my first novel by King. I don't know how I feel about it. Maybe it's because King in many ways made the horror genre his own and his way of writing is not particularly my preferred style. It's not scary and there's no build-up to a plot twist, but the whole thing is incredibly terrifying and haunting

Gave me quite the chill! King's done it again. Absolutely loved this work. It's as though King was inspired by Frankenstein and came up with this tale. Loved it!

This book is a success! It achieved what it was meant to, in my opinion. During the time period of reading this novel, I would run to my bed in the dark, pull my feet back up onto my bed, and would try not to look into the dark void that my room becomes at night while attempting to fall asleep.
Stephen King is extraordinary in the way his words can cause me to react like this - and I absolutely adore it! I don't think I would ask for anything else in a story such as this, an iconic tale of the bringing back of the dead. Of course, I have rated it four stars for a reason. It is not by any means, my favourite work of Stephen King's, as iconic and well known as it is, but it will still resonate in my heart forever.
If this is what you're looking for in a novel, I deeply encourage the reading of Pet Sematary.
P.S. I will admit that the thing I was so afraid of that I was so sure was going to shuffle towards me at vigorous speed until it grabbed my ankle and broke my back, was, and still is Zelda. Thank you.

Shit dad shit husband acts like a shit dad shit husband, gets himself into a load of shit.

There are some parts with good action and lots of momentum but overall way too long and overly descriptive.

Characters somehow one-dimensional despite length of book. Main character completely unsympathetic. Very weird ableism and sexism and racism. Not King's best work, maybe some of his worst.
