I struggled through every single page of this book. Perhaps it would have been a better read at a different stage of my life. Who knows. I would not recommend it to anyone except those, like me, who want to read every Hugo Award winner.

An amazing sequel - much more sci-fi (alongside the sci-fi politics of the first book) which I really enjoyed

I liked this book better than the first. You dive into the characters even deeper and come face to face with an alien race that is very interesting and explores the ideas of memory even more.

The multi POV hurt this novel I think. It picks up at the end but takes a bit to get there. Overall, less interesting than the first but still compelling.

I hated the aliens and that this was a first contact story.
