One of the few small town romances done right.  This was adorable.  I instantly fell in love with the characters—except Spencer and Isabel—but that’s irrelevant, just like them.  I really liked the setting and how it gave off the small town vibes all the while not being sickeningly heteronormative and borderline toxic.  This was really cute and I really enjoyed the humor.

I really wanted to love this book, but I instead ended up feeling mostly just frustrated by it. I didn't particularly like or connect with neither Delilah nor Claire, so I then didn't care a whole lot about their relationship. I did think they had good chemistry initially, but ultimately everything progresses a bit too quickly and I just didn't feel the supposed love between them.

I did like the subtle nods to the intimacies of the queer experience throughout this book, and it also has some great themes and conversations around childhood, parenthood, difficult relationships, sacrifice, loss, abandonment, and moving on from the past. However, as a romance and as a narrative this one just didn't end up really working for me. I also really didn't like the way it seems to normalise alcohol dependency, and wish this had either not been a feature or had been explored further in a more nuanced way.

I also didn't feel any of the side characters were particularly strong, apart from maybe Ruby, so I'm not particularly interested in continuing with the rest of the series. It's a shame as this book had a lot of potential, and lots of other reviewers do seem to have loved it, but for me it didn't live up to it at all.

i’m convinced i read a different book than everyone else because what. everyone was unlikeable, these people are supposed to be in their late 20’s and yet act like teenagers. like delilah is a complete bitch to everyone (and not in a good way) and iris is a whole bully who hasn’t changed her ways in like 15 years? claire and iris (and delilah) are horrible friends to astrid, seeing how badly her fiancé treats her and not actually doing anything about it except childish pranks that won’t help at all.
imo claire and delilah had no chemistry, having good sex doesn’t make your relationship good. they’re definitely breaking up in a week and claire will end up back together with ruby’s dad who she clearly hasn’t gotten over in ten years🤷🏻‍♀️
i had such high hopes since i’ve literally seen everyone say this has been one of their top reads of this year but now i’m just… sad and a little mad

This book reads a lot like a fanfiction. If i didn’t know better I would’ve thought the author was a 19 year old that thinks being an adult is drinking all the time. With that said, the author impressed me with the addition of a child (except towards the end) I don’t typically like that story line. Overall a very enjoyable wlw story.

I loved everything about this. The characters were just amazing. I loved every single one. And each dynamic between them was so detailed and different. I loved the plot. While it is mainly a romance novel, I feel like we didn't get lost in that. There was a clear plot and goal for all the characters that was followed and was engaging and entertaining. The romance itself. Just chefs kiss. So much amazing build up. Great pacing. The obstacles were there but didn't get drawn out at all. Things get resolved in a timely manner. This goes for the main plot too actually. I never felt like things got boring. Pacing was just fantastic.
I have nothing to say. I just loved this book with all my heart.
