Aside from the original source material, Lim manages to use the “Mulan” mythos to create a surprisingly engrossing story with steeped in Chinese mythology while still capturing the central moral of the 1998 film.
Graphic: Death, Death of parent, Violence, Injury/Injury detail, Blood, and Schizophrenia/Psychosis
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury, Grief, Panic attacks/disorders, and Abandonment
Minor: Animal cruelty, Drug use, and Cursing
Be aware of the use of weapons, demons, descriptions of Diyu and Youdu (the Underworld and Hell), running away, and exploration of self-doubt and guilt.smalljoys's review

I wish there was more emphasis on shang and mulan's relationship at the end, although I understand this it fit in between scenes in the movie. Also, felt like there was so much action at times, it was hard to keep up with who was moving where and who was fighting what.
Graphic: War, Violence, Blood, and Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: War and Body horror
