Loved this so much! Fantastic characters that I could root for, a sweet lowkey romance, friendships!!, and delicious world-building.
As a longtime fan of Naomi Novik's I can see elements of all of her books here, but the snarky self-aware tone makes this book its own thing and I am HERE FOR IT. The interactions between El and Orion are hysterical.
While I am a huge romantic, I loved that the romance was not a central part of the book. It is too rare that a young female-identifying person gets a coming-of-age story that doesn't hinge on falling in love with someone. And even rarer- that she could be actual friends with a guy and he's not the comedic sidekick.
