I love this trilogy. And getting to listen to it has been a real treat. The stories that Naomi novick writes are filled with action and well thought out stories. I never feel like the stories are lacking.

I read all three back to back, I was so engrossed. I love fantasy like this, with thought-out worlds and rules. I will say sometimes the stream of consciousness and Britishisms made it a rough slog, especially in the third book, but overall I was very engaged and had so much fun. The third novel did pack a lot of punchy reveals that I think came too fast and too close together, which kind of lessened the impact of each. I think it would have been better if they had been spread out over the books, but oh well *shrug*

Would recommend if you like dark academia, an unrelentingly *good* heroine, prophecies, depressed (or very self-reflective lol) narration, and detailed magical rules. Oh and also if you like Luke Sunborn from In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan, then you will also like Orion Lake wink wink nudge nudge
