I think this book is very well written. I was his age when this all happened. I still remember how that day felt like. I feel like it was written well enough for kids to understand what a tragic day that was.

All the ***** for this 9/11 themed book about a young boy who turns 11 on 9/11 in NYC. Can't tell you too much without giving it away, but this one is right up there on the Ugly Cry bookshelf. Also? Dogs.

Loved it! short chapters from varying points of view. Super engaging plot. Lovable characters. this title has it all! It addresses the topics of terrorism and 9/11 without going too far. And it teaches a great lesson- challenging kids to think about what is really important. This would make a fantastic read aloud for the upper elementary grades, and is recommended to any lover of historical fiction. You should definitely give this one a try!

Riveting story of one New Jersey boy's experience on Sept. 11, 2001. The author does an exceptional job of balancing the horror and heartbreak with humorous moments. This will appeal to middle grade readers who enjoy realistic fiction, dog stories, and historical fiction.

Beautifully written. Love how Alex goes from trying to get a dog to learning what is truly important, his family.
