I liked quite a bit of it, but was also bored with too much of it for a 4-star rating.

All the way around, this book is AMAZING. This is my first book by Koontz, and I'm glad I decided to pick it up! This was a read for me where I responded aloud with laughs, heart pounding out of my chest, as well as crying. A heart-warming story of finding family and protecting those you love.

There's creepy lab experiments, blackmail, assassinations, love, dogs, adventure, and suspense!! It's so much wrapped up in one great book! It's a must read!

Ah, the cheese is strong in this.

Quickly, the beginning was amazing but, unfortunately, when I was halfway through the whole story started to drag like a concrete block grinding on the pavement. Also, the bits about the super-intelligent dog were...let's just say they were a real challenge for my suspension of disbelief.

Right, this was written in the eighties so I reckon that should be taken into consideration when tackling "Watchers". That being said, main issue here is...Dean Koontz, sadly, isn't as good a writer as Stephen King.

Three melancholic stars, the eighties were awesome.

Next.

9/10 Stars. Excellent novel, both funny, sweet, and creepy. Einstein is obviously the best character, but Garrison is a close second. Love this book!

Not sure which reread this was, probably at least 6 or 7, but not in several years. I still love this book and now I have it in the original hardcover thanks to Katie! What made me fall in love with it and why I still love it so much is Einstein and the whole idea of being able to communicate on a human level with your dog. The rest of the plot is pretty fun, too- you’ve got a government lab disaster, another experimental evil animal that is actually kind of pitiful on the loose, a hired hit man, cop friendships, and a couple that falls in love with the dog and each other. Always a fun read, and now going on my shelf where it belongs until Katie rereads it, too.
