This book kept me intrigued all the way to the end. It was very suspenseful and captivating. Normally, i don't care for such suspense, but this has opened up a whole new field of books that i could become quite interested in. Koontz has made curious and I'm sure to be picking up another of his novels here soon.

Oh my gosh, what can I say about this book but that I just loved it! If you want a good book for the road or something to keep you awake...this is one of them! My husband and I still talk about this book...it was soooo good and captivating in every step.

Read this over 20 years ago and decided to read it again. Still thoroughly enjoyed it again, even after all these years. I mean seriously it has a dog that can communicate with humans, and the dog even has a sense of humour. A little dated but only in a nostalgic sort of way (Technology dated) and well the sex scene is obviously written by a man, but that is the only negative thing about it. I loved the characters so much years ago, that I have kept a copy of this with me, eventhough I have moved like 7 times and have slowly gotten rid of all but my truly favourite books. Ok, not much of a helpful review, but damn I just love this one.

Favourite Quotes

“I assure you the law isn't a line engraved in marble, immovable and unchangeable through the centuries. Rather...the law is like a string, fixed at both ends but with a great deal of play in it-very loose, the line of the law-so you can stretch it this way or that, rearrange the arc of it so you are always-short of the blantant theft or cold-blooded murder-safely on the right side.”

“When a man of ideals decides he is too old to risk everything for what he believes in, then he is no longer a man of ideals. He may no longer be a man at all.”

Entertaining read, I liked it, imaginative, engrossing and appealing, that appeal includes a couple of very scary monsters, human and otherwise.

Finished "Watchers" by Dean Koontz. This was a cute, entertaining story, though other Koontz novels rank higher for me. That's not hard considering both that this one comes from 1987, and that The Taking is one of the weirdest books I've ever read. The thing I didn't like about this one was that the dramatic tension seemed to trail off during a lull in the story. Instead of keeping the pressure on, it was more of a "back of the mind" sort of nagging thing. Then when we got back to the pressure, it was all at once and over too quickly.

3.5 stars
The characters were written exquisitely. I feel like I truly know all of them. The plot was odd to say the least and it didn't feel super believable, but the writing was great, which made up for the unorthodox story.

I just…I can’t explain it…just very nice

I love a happy ending :^)

This is one of my dad’s favourite books which is why I thought I’d give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how much time was spent to develop the characters. Which had the unfortunate effect of making me afraid to keep reading because I couldn’t bear anything bad happening to them. It was kind of a slow moving story but I’m glad I read it.

This very much felt like a first draft of Fear Nothing, but it's still a staple of Koontz's work. I would recommend reading this one before Fear Nothing, if you have the chance.
