I really did not like this graphic novel. I felt that it wanted to tell a ton of stories and honestly, it was messy. I wish that there was an attempt to do one story line and show little of each friends lives but it just did not work. Also, while the color blocking was beautiful, there were some words that I could barely read because of the color of the background.

Beautiful and honest exploration of female friendship through tough times. The art and coloring is amazing.

Super beautiful artwork and characters but I kept expecting something more to happen with everything that was setup for these characters. There was a lot I found unnecessary if it wasn't going somewhere: the self-harm and fatphobia plotlines weren't exactly handled. But it was awesome to "watch" a basketball game in a graphic novel :~)

While I love how colorful this is, there are some pages that are too dark and are a bit difficult to read. I wish some of the text was made to stand out more at times. But the illustrations and the art are absolutely gorgeous. I loved it for that.

Someone looking for a plot driven book definitely won't find it here. This book is more about this group of girls, how they come together, and how they deal with different problems in their lives. Their lives are messy, like most people's lives are. Leong portrays them so well, both in story and in art. It sucks you into their little world and doesn't let go until the end.
