I dont even know if this book is worth 5 stars. literally could not tell you. however, something in me enjoyed this so much. guilty pleasure, maybe? the writing wasn't absolutely amazing, though it wasn't bad, the plot wasn't that great, and the main character was slightly dull. regardless, 5 stars. I adore beauty and the beast, so perhaps it's the nostalgic factor, though I don't remember the disney movie having people bang. I think the thing I liked most about this book is just the princes. I found them each charming in their own regard (though keldarion less than the others). I'm an Ezryn girlie, and I don't even know what he looks like. anyways, please don't ask me to further explain the 5 stars because I can't even comprehend it myself. I just had a lot of fun reading it.

Reads like a teen fan fic. Hot garbage. But admittedly deliciously entertaining once you get past the cringe.

So the verdict is: if you can stick out the cringe of the first 1/3 of the book, other aspects start building that make the cringe manageable. (To put it in the least spoiler-y terms possible)

I liked this!  It was a WC/RH, which tend to not be my favorite and I didn't realize that going into reading it.  About half way through, I figured it out.  The beginning is VERY close to Beauty and the Beast, to the point that I almost DNF because it didn't feel super innovative and the FMC was a little annoying with her mousy-ness.  But As I continued, it definitely shifted into a retelling that is absolutely it's own story and the world opened up, she grew as a person, and we got to meet a lot of fun characters.  There's good tension between her and the other characters with it still being a slow-burn.  And the world is interesting and was a lovely escape from real life.  Also, props to the author for the sprinkle of nods towards Disney's retelling.  It was very minimal but brought forward the re-telling aspect in a fun way that made me smile without it feeling forced or unoriginal.  I'll probably slip this one into my list of re-reads periodically.

Damn...that was a good read. Major Beauty and the Beast vibes...which I LOVE. The characters were fun, especially the secondary characters, we get action, romance, a mystery...and so much more. I'll definitely be jumping right into book two 🤭
