Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was excellent and the unraveling of the mystery was carried out superbly.

I just wish there could be more character development. The book is written in a very fact based manner, which doesn't allow much emotion to develop anywhere. Even when there are pivotal moments for the characters, they are carried out in a very fact based manner. I can't take anything away from the fast paced crime aspect of the novel, just wish i knew a little more about the characters and their outlooks.

A good quick read. Will continue the series as I like the character Nick Dixon.

. Pedestrian

Hard to know whether my dislike of this book was due to awful audiobook narration, or the fact that the writing was in places so clumsy. The best I can say is that it kept me company while I worked in the kitchen yesterday afternoon, but it doesn't incline me to read more by the same author. A shame: it was a good premise marred by pedestrian delivery

Without his one and only interest being the center of a mystery (rock-climbing in book #1) DI Nick Dixon has less personality than damp cardboard and his girlfriend/co-cop has even less going for her. It doesn't make for an exciting investigation when these two are on the case. I won't be moving forward with the series.

This was a really good read new and historical murder investigations hinge on DI Nixon finding the motive behind them. Good old fashioned policing I like the characters and should be reading more of these

The story was good. Narrator did a good job. I'm just not crazy about the main character.

Boyd writes simply, maybe a bit stiffly, but well - the story that unravels was interesting and then when the Dixon put the pieces together, it was fantastic
Spoiler(though not gonna lie, it was rather messed up and tragic)
