Not my fave from Mr Marrs I’m afraid :(
However still an easy read with plenty of twisty turny goodness

I wanted to like this book, I really did. But I found all of the characters so boring, unlikeable, and annoying that I couldn’t get into the story. I truly forced myself to finish because I loved 3 of Marrs’s other books in hopes that things would turn around.

*Gasps* A John Marrs book I didn't love?? I didn't think it was possible either. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but it was different. This book was more police procedural than his usual wild thrillers. It was more slow moving than his other books I've read.
A young single mother, Becca, on London's police force steps up to be put on a case of a potential serial killer. It's her time to prove herself. She teams up with Joe, a "super-recognizer" [he has a photographic memory for faces] in a fight to beat a killer who is brutally murdering his victims in quick succession. The chapters rotate in typical Marrs fashion between Becca, Joe, and the murderer. Each character has other major storylines besides our main one. Each character was interesting, but I think each story individually went too deep, too drawn out, and a bit boring. The killer was the exception. How his story played out was highly entertaining and carried the thriller part of the book.
There are definitely some good twists but I think the whole detective procedure back drop just wasn't as fun for me as this author's usual m.o. Overall it's a solid read and I think many readers will enjoy it. Obviously it is very highly rated here. I just enjoyed Marr's other novels much more🤷♀️
I've read and really liked: The One, When You Disappeared, What Lies Between Us, and The Good Samaritan.
I'll be reading the rest of this catalouge once I get more good kindle deals😄😄

Eh, this book on as fine. I love John Marrs but this book didn't hit the mark. It was interesting but I didn't get exited to read it or find myself particularly thrilled about the plot.
This was a great thriller, very cleverly written. Will pick up more books from the author.
