The best part of this book in my opinion is how well the author incorporates the flashbacks of Nora's past with the present day. It all flows so smoothly and keeps you furiously turning pages the whole time! I loved it. Also the found family aspect is *chef's kiss*.
Also, the author, Tess Sharpe, narrates the audiobook and it is amazing and I definitely recommend!

Nora is a great character and her struggle with who she is because of the multiple people her mother forced her to be is really well told. She is Samantha and Hayley and Ashely, and the others. She is Nora and Natalie and has manage to piece herself together inch by inch until she is able to stand on her own two feet and begin to deal with the demons in her past.
As much as this story is about escaping from a bank robbery it's more about how you deal with trauma and abuse.
Moderate: Chronic illness, Domestic abuse, Pedophilia, Rape, Toxic relationship, Violence, Vomit, Fire/Fire injury, Abandonment, and Sexual harassment

I loved pretty much everything about this book. The pacing of both plot strands (the present in the bank, the past unravelling of Nora) was perfect and wove together very well. I'm a character-driven reader rather than plot driven (which is a big part of why I don't usually read thrillers, those I've picked up in the past have relied on cheap cliffhangers and explosions to keep the tension going, while not building the characters up at all) so this was perfect for me. I wanted to care about the characters and I did. The bank robbery plot was fairly irrelevant, serving as a plot device to give us Nora's backstory and further her development today, and that was...well, perfect. Exactly what I wanted.
It's a quick read, fast-paced and flowing. The only reason why I didn't read it in one sitting is because I wanted to make it last.
It IS a dark book, however. Nora was raised by a grifter mother and is a con artist herself, she's lived through domestic violence and sexual assault, and five years after she got out she's struggling to define herself and who to trust. there are no punches pulled.

TW: Mental illness, murder, abuse, sexual abuse + assault
etc.
I heard good things about this from boston reads over on youtube. Granted they hadn’t finished the book yet but had definitely sold me on it.
Nora; Rebecca, Samantha, Katie, Haley and Ashley.
Nora has had the life that anyone would love to read, to learn and to gossip about, but would never want to live for themselves. Her entire life was five different roller coasters that didn’t come down until the sixth mile mark.
Nora is gay (bisexual), strong, and furious but she is most importantly, herself. Throughout the entire book Nora struggles with who she is, what her identity is and if she’ll ever find who she is destined to be.
Although there are many other things to mention about this book like her mother, Abby, her stepdad Raymond, her girlfriend Iris, her sister Lee and her-ex boyfriend turned best friend Wes, it doesn’t truly need to be mentioned. Why? Because this is a book about a girl that did not have a normal life, a childhood or even an identity. It is about abuse (i.e. physical, mental + sexual abuse) mental illness, conning, murder, mystery and everything that can come with the life of being a con-artist. Of being raises by one and as one.
!!TW!!: I definitely recommend this book but just be wary of all the trigger warnings. Make sure to do your research beforehand. There is no on page sexual abuse, assault or molestation but it can still be triggering.
Is this really just a three in a half star read? I haven’t written a review like this in awhile so that’s gotta say something about the book.
