I like mysteries and magical realism. I don’t like the objectification of women, especially when gratuitously used as a literary device. It’s gross. I’m sad not to love this book as much as I otherwise would have.

Pretty funny. In parts perhaps trying a bit too hard, but we live near Beverley Brook and I warmed to it anyway. My wife is a huge fan and has all the sequels.

"Dresden Files", UK edition! Has its own colour and distinct vibes of being in London.

I read this book in 3 days, it would’ve been less if work hadn’t got in the way. I haven’t had that with a book in a long time!
It was utterly compelling, funny, and lighthearted. The story was gripping and a great example of magical realism. I almost think of it as Neil Gaiman light (very Neverwhere and American Gods in a way).

Incoherent and boring with too many “she boobed boobily” observations from the main character. Will pass on the rest of the series.
