All the cover love here!. The characters, the plot, and the world building are solid.
The pacing is balanced, there’s a predictability in some parts, but still this book was enjoyable to read. I believe that Tanvi Berwah is an author everyone should have on their radar.

ARC kindly provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is great if you loved The Hunger Games. I don't know if this is stand alone or first in a series, but it is a debut. I got it on sale at b&n, but it's a great story. I hope she does plan a sequel. Also, the cover is gorgeous, and the book is also gorgeous naked.

This book took me longer than it should have to finish. It was all over the place. It gave a mystical creature aspect to The Hunger Games type of class battle. There were hints of a past romance between characters that was never fully explored or explained. The last few chapters were the most exciting as with many books but it still left a lot of uncertainty about what was going on.  I didn’t like the page breaks within the chapters that switched scenes without finishing the previous thoughts.

I was granted an eArc of this book in exchange for a review.
The story reminds me of The Hunger Games. Struggling and raw, powerful and uncertain. I loved the writing, the characters, and the way I was sucked into another society so thoroughly.

Not for me.

The story and characters just fell flat. I was expecting a South-Asian retelling but is was more like Indian Indian characters set on a Greek island.

The dialogue was awkward and corny at times, and I didn’t connect to any of the characters. Koral is whiny, selfish, and shows little concern for anyone but herself.

I was hoping for so much more, but the story just progressively got worse.

Loved this book so much! It was such a new twist on putting teens into an area to fight to the death. I enjoyed the setting of the sea and the creatures. The main characters development with her own creative was done somewhat rushed to me but otherwise I loved the book. Even with Koral always thinking of her family. This has to be one of the few times because usually parents/any siblings in these type of books are dead.
