This is book has a few tense moments in the plot, but it's definitely more of a character study kind of book than a plot book. The narrator is unreliable but interesting enough that I enjoyed reading it for the most part.

surprising, profoundly nasty. I see now why the person who recommended it to me told me they would not proudly do the same for many people!

really lovely despite (or because of) that with an ending I liked a lot. careful with the trigger warnings on this one; pretty easy to get spoiled on a (the?) “whoa!” moment

I liked this book. Very, very dark. A fast read, very interesting. However, the animal abuse portions really disturbed me and although I thought it was a good book, I would have a hard time recommending it to someone.

This book was well written and compelling, but I can’t rate it any higher as the animal cruelty was far too intense for me personally. If you have a stronger stomach than I do you might enjoy this book more. I predicted the twist ending in the first thirty or so pages, but it was still an interesting read.
