Animal cruelty is the main feature of this book and I am not on board with this. It also has no plot and no horror at all, it's just sad and disturbing. 
This book is nothing like "The Crow Road", which I loved to bits. I guess Iain Banks developed his talent later on, who knows. 
I will try out a few later works by the author, maybe "The Quarry" or "Whit".

This book has the biggest twist I have ever read. At no point did I see it coming. But it is integral to the story. I found this book incredibly disturbing but also could not put it down and needed to know what would happen at the end. Full of triggering content but an interesting and different read.
