This book really fell short for me. I was really looking forward to reading it, but I felt that there could have been a better execution. I am truly disappointed. The story line wasn't realistic at all; teens are faking their deaths, hiding, and somehow exorbitantly rich.

This is a tough one to rate and review. I was relatively into it, and then the second half of the book just kept getting weirder and weirder. Many readers may or may not be able to identify the plot twists, but after a point, they just started to get bizarre.

In terms of characters, I found June to be too gullible and unsure of everything, while Delia was plain irresponsible and creepy. Readers are essentially left to assume or guess the ins and outs of their relationship, which brings me to my next point:

The ending. I completely understand the use of open-ended conclusions. It can leave readers free to imagine what comes next, often not without some nice reflection. However, when not used as a psychological tool like that, and used as essentially another plot twist that forces you to really pull at what is even happening on the page, it is annoying. The last few pages of the book are just so confusing, and maybe it sounds lazy, but I don't enjoy having to work so hard to figure out what is going on. I can guess, but what good is that when you're trying to get to the bottom of the story?

This book had promise. It had a relatively strong beginning and promising plot. The mess that followed, however, left me disappointed. If you like the bizarre hints and to be completely off-the-rails by the end of a book, then I'd recommend you go for it.

“you’re confused? i’m fucking confused.”

no for real, what the fuck happened at the end? this book was a mess and frankly i’m surprised i finished it. i don’t understand anything at the end, middle, or beginning. and apparently no one else did because there is no explanations from anybody.

An easy read, but damn these characters are weird. June is so beyond stupid and believes everything anyone tells her. The supposed friendship throughout this book between June and Delia is so toxic and the complete opposite of a friendship. The ending wasn’t even good.
