it does do this annoying thing where it’s continual pop culture references, sometimes more than once/pg. yes, we get it: you know abt buzzfeed and fashion snafus and the like. can you give us plot pls 😭

it also has pretty intense internalized fatphobia, which i should’ve thought to look up b4hand. if you’re excited for an mlm read where the narrator isn’t working through continual fatphobia/thinking he’s so ugly because he’s overweight (like i was excited for), you will not find it here. it felt like we traded no conflicted feelings abt being gay for conflicted feelings/internalized fatphobia.

that being said, still a wonderfully cute book;  sappy and happy

good concept, great representation, really poor writing. it felt very juvenile and simplistic, and the main character’s voice grated on me after awhile. it lacked the depth i’m used to seeing in YA

Slovo „roztomilé" to asi vystihne nejvíc. Přesně ten typ knížky, co vám trochu rozjasní den.

I’ve been wanting to read this for so long (like, years—I’ve been patiently waiting for the English translation) and finally did. Such a beautiful book that captures intersecting identities in ways that aren’t often represented in YA literature, or really, literature in general. If you’re looking for a plot-strong book, this one won’t be it. But it’s the characters, thoughts, and conversations that make it special.
